The Psychology of Money Chapter 11 | Reasonable > Rational

Sometimes peace of mind is worth more than perfect logic.

That’s what this chapter reminded me of — that being reasonable with money will take you farther than trying to be perfectly rational.

Money isn’t just numbers; it’s energy, emotion, and perspective. What makes sense for a millionaire might not make sense for someone paying off debt. What’s rational on paper isn’t always what helps you sleep at night.

I used to believe I had to do everything “right.” Follow every formula, split every paycheck into six different accounts, mirror what successful people were doing. But the truth is, I wasn’t there yet. Trying to do everything by the book only made me feel behind.

This chapter helped me realize that being reasonable isn’t settling — it’s being honest about your current season. Maybe for you, that means paying your bills first and saving a little. Maybe it means keeping cash on hand because it makes you feel secure. That doesn’t make you less disciplined; it makes you self-aware.

Our finances are deeply personal. There isn’t one formula that fits everyone, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to be the smartest investor in the room — it’s to build a relationship with money that feels peaceful, empowering, and true to where you are right now.

And when you do that, things start aligning in ways that don’t always make sense logically but always make sense spiritually.

✨ Reflection

I’d love to hear what stood out for you in this chapter.

Share your takeaway in the comments and use these questions as gentle guidance for your own reflection:

  • Where in your finances are you trying to be perfectly rational instead of being reasonable with yourself?

  • What kind of money habits actually bring you peace?

  • How could you honor your current season while still believing for more?
